1. GPCB & CPCB Statutory Framework
Manufacturing industries across Gujarat and Western India operate under the statutory oversight of the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) and the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) pursuant to the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974.
Every industrial facility generating process wastewater or domestic sewage is legally obligated to secure a Consent to Establish (CTE) before commissioning and maintain an active Consent to Operate (CTO / CCA - Consolidated Consent & Authorization).
Aqua Shakti Industries designs, fabricates, and commissions turnkey Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP), Sewage Treatment Plants (STP), and Demineralization (DM) plants engineered specifically to satisfy these mandatory consent criteria, safeguarding your plant against closure notices or statutory fines.
2. Standard Inland Surface Water Discharge Thresholds
Unless otherwise specified in an individual unit's Consent letter, treated industrial effluent discharged to inland surface waters or public drainage must comply with standard schedule VI parameters:
| Pollutant Parameter | Statutory Maximum Limit | Aqua Shakti Engineered Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| pH Value | 6.5 – 8.5 | 7.0 – 7.8 (Automated acid/alkali dosing) |
| Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD3 at 27°C) | ≤ 30 mg/L | < 10 mg/L (High-efficiency aeration) |
| Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) | ≤ 250 mg/L | < 80 mg/L (Advanced Fenton/coagulation) |
| Total Suspended Solids (TSS) | ≤ 100 mg/L | < 15 mg/L (Dual Media & Ultrafiltration) |
| Oil & Grease | ≤ 10 mg/L | < 2 mg/L (Coalescence Oil Skimmers) |
| Ammoniacal Nitrogen (as N) | ≤ 50 mg/L | < 20 mg/L (Biological nitrification) |
| Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) | ≤ 2,100 mg/L | < 500 mg/L (Reverse Osmosis concentration) |
3. Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Engineering Framework
In critical water-stressed zones and designated chemical clusters (e.g. Ankleshwar, Panoli, Vapi, Dahej), regulatory bodies mandate Zero Liquid Discharge. Aqua Shakti engineers turnkey, multi-stage ZLD flowsheets designed for maximum water recovery (> 95%):
- Primary & Physico-Chemical Treatment: Equalization, flash flocculation, lamella clarifier settling, and high-rate dissolved air flotation (DAF) for total suspended solids and colloidal organic removal.
- Biological Oxidation: Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) or Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology for biological COD and BOD breakdown.
- High-Recovery Membrane Desalination: Multi-pass high-pressure RO skids operating up to 70 bar, recovering up to 85–90% of water for boiler makeup or process reuse.
- Thermal Evaporation & Salt Crystallization: Rejection concentrate is piped to Multiple Effect Evaporators (MEE) and Agitated Thin Film Dryers (ATFD), leaving dry solid salt cakes for authorized hazardous waste management disposal.
4. CETP Pre-Treatment Compliance (GIDC Estates)
Units connected to Common Effluent Treatment Plants (such as Vapi Green Enviro Ltd - VGEL, Sarigam CETP, or Sachin Infra) must pre-treat wastewater to satisfy mandatory CETP inlet criteria before pipeline discharge:
- Pre-treatment to bring raw effluent COD down below 1,000 mg/L to avoid punitive hydraulic surcharge penalties.
- Neutralization tanks with digital pH transmitters to prevent acidic corrosion of underground GIDC effluent collection headers.
- Heavy metal precipitation systems for electroplating, dying, and specialty chemical facilities to ensure copper, hexavalent chromium, zinc, and nickel remain below statutory CETP discharge thresholds.
5. ISO 9001:2008 Certified Quality Assurance
Aqua Shakti Industries maintains an ISO 9001:2008 accredited quality management system covering design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, and testing of water and wastewater treatment plants:
- Material Traceability: All stainless steel skids (SS 304, SS 316, SS 316L) are supplied with Mill Test Certificates (MTC) verifying chemical composition and tensile strength.
- Welding Standards: Argon TIG welding inspected for penetration, absence of blowholes, and uniform bead profile, followed by chemical pickling and passivation to prevent intergranular corrosion.
- Component Authenticity: Direct sourcing of certified Dow Filmtec ™, Toray ™, and Hydranautics ™ membrane elements with manufacturer serial numbers and anti-counterfeiting verification tags.
6. Laboratory Titration & Environmental Water Audits
To support regulatory inspections and ongoing compliance monitoring, our Vapi testing facility provides complete raw and treated water analytical testing:
- Comprehensive testing for pH, electrical conductivity, TDS, total hardness, calcium, magnesium, chlorides, sulfates, silica, iron, and free chlorine.
- Silt Density Index (SDI15) testing to determine fouling potential before reverse osmosis membranes.
- On-site environmental water sampling for quarterly compliance reporting to regulatory bodies.
